Moved in but not quite Moved around

The beams turned out very very well. As did the concrete floors. The interior painter was great, JK refurb'd a frig wood covered wooden doors and all in all? We're unpacked! The foam insulation so far is making a huge difference in both cold and heat. All fluorescent lights takes a bit of getting used to (slower to light up) but energy efficient!

Finally! I have remembered the log on!

I have 1000 at least passwords, logons and numbers rolling around. and numbers and I aren't that close of friends! the move is over! the barn is well lived in - we're 1/2 way down a page of at least 25 pages of things that remain to be done but at least we're there!

It's green, summer feels like it's here to stay, the bees are busy, honey is almost ready and of course its way beyond time to brush hog the pasture!
We're also the proud parents of a pole barn:)

Have not forgotten the bees

The bees are wintering but not forgotten, Joel will be moving one more hive to the barnouse this winter before spring hits, he is probably going to put some sugarfood out for them soon and check to make sure other critters aren't raiding their stored honey supply!

The last of the big messes (hopefully)

Kitchen area is rather last to have things set in place. kinda a mess now.

Lights near ceiling

Since windows are at a minimum lights go along the wall with canned lights (fluorescent eco friendly bulbs) around kitchen area.

To the left pocket doors that were damaged - refurb'd and look fantstic now. (recycle, reuse)

Person truly does need toilets

and a sink. we found out last time not necessarily a stove tho.
but toilet? ya. I dont' do composting outhouses. sorry.

Wood, a little more wood, some more wood

The stain on stairway turned out really well, as did the posts and ceiling wood. Keep in mind most materials used are reconditioned, found, auction etc. except for the ones of course --- unfindable. When the original ball collapsed due to the contractor? A lot of our auction mat'ls didn't make it thru the night so to speak. But it's almost done (2 more weeks). eh more or less. maybe a month.

Staining a stairway

Sorta mid stain but the rails turned out really nice. Actually all the wood is better than expected!

Got snow, got ice, got fewer workers

Pretty tho. slow moving, just 2 more weeks if anyone has ever watched The Money Pit
At least we have a semi sorta bath if things get rough:)

Loft wood getting done

A carpenter is building a bed platform with an entertainment center at the foot - see left. Wooden floor, jute material will cover the closets or burlap close. - the table to the right was built for a kitchen island. The wood turned out quite well but --- can't really see in this one as the concrete stain is a bit dusty.

Working and moving into January 2010

Skipped a few I think but the stairs are getting Rails, the wood is going up inside, (ceilings) and the floors are concrete, stained with eco friendly materials (not acidic)

Joel found a great old sink with aprons on both sides (rather huge). it will go in the wood with grey granite surround. Most of the materials have been found at auctions, refurb from other projects, etc. reuse and regreen!

Got barn outside, got concrete outside

Gee other than a toilet about all we need:) (doors and walls) n such.
The photo on the right is part of the laundry room with shelves, the pantry is off to the right (i have mega junque)

The wood here N there

Upstairs before the sink got put in, bath - the kitchen cabinets are getting stained right. - Wood and more wood! Stain turned out very well - it's all good, been through a few subs here and there who moved on, got different jobs, left - came back, didn't work out - did work out well so and so and so on!

Water reclamation system

OK it's not pretty but it will be handy, part of the aerobic system I think at the back, and the water reclamation system going in pipes go down side of the barn and drop into other pipes, thru to holding tank and out to garden areas. (from rain etc. off roof).

Winter at the barn-ouse

Happy had quite enough walking and was heading on home! barnouse in the distance
